Printmaking
In this first workshop, I enjoyed experimenting with facilities and methods of printmaking which I had not had the opportunity to do so in the past. Screen printing was perhaps the most challenging method to begin with, however after some experimentation I was able to appreciate the pressure and speed required to create a good quality print. I based the subject matter of my experimental prints on our trip to the woods, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I incorporated some of the elements I had seen during the day, working from a combination of both photographs and item collected from the site itself. I felt that my intaglio prints were the most successful, being pleased with both the composition and the strength of the lines I was able to create within each piece. Although fairly basic in comparison, I felt that my monoprints were also successful, and was rather surprised with the results. The small details of the leaves and other natural material I used in my pieces were recorded well, in addition to an interesting combination of marks left in the ink by other users. Please see below for the results...
